MAZAALAI -> MAZALA
THE SPIRIT OF THE GOBI BEAR

A Legacy Rooted in Mongolia’s Wild Soul

At Mazala Travel, our name carries meaning far beyond a brand. “Mazala” is a stylized, globally friendly adaptation of “Mazaalai” (Мазаалай)—the revered Gobi Bear of Mongolia, and one of the rarest bear species on Earth. Our name is a tribute to this extraordinary creature and a reminder of our commitment to responsible, culturally rooted, and sustainable travel.

🐾 WHO IS THE MAZAALAI?

The Gobi Bear (Ursus arctos gobiensis), or Mazaalai, is:

  • Critically endangered: With fewer than 40 individuals known to exist
  • Found only in Mongolia: Residing deep in the arid regions of the Great Gobi A Strictly Protected Area
  • Culturally symbolic: Revered as a quiet guardian of the desert, embodying the harsh beauty and quiet resilience of the Mongolian wilderness

Unlike other bears, the Mazaalai survives in one of the world’s toughest climates, enduring extreme heat, drought, and food scarcity—all while adapting in silence, far from human eyes.

💚 OUR COMMITMENT: TRAVEL THAT GIVES BACK

Mazala Travel is more than a travel company. We are part of a movement to protect what makes Mongolia irreplaceable.

As part of our ethos, we donate a portion of proceeds from every trip booked through our platform toward wildlife conservation programs supporting:

  • Gobi Bear monitoring and habitat protection
  • Community-led conservation education
  • Research projects and survival tracking by Mongolian scientists

🤝 HOW YOU CAN HELP THE MAZAALAI

🌍 WHY THIS MATTERS

Tourism in Mongolia is growing. But growth must be guided with care, humility, and reverence for nature. Supporting the Mazaalai means standing up for:

  • Indigenous biodiversity
  • Nomadic land stewardship
  • Future generations of wild Mongolia

Every traveler who walks through our desert, every donation that supports protection work—brings us one step closer to keeping the Mazaalai alive.
